the hotel's position was particularly good, right by shops and the park attractions and the tourist attractions and major shopping stores and the old hanoi sites. the breakfast was free at very fair prices, the staff was excellent.

It is hard to find a reasonably priced boutique hotel that has a central location and well laid out rooms. The staff in general is attentive. The breakfast is sumptuous and free with excellent croissants I must mention, had outstanding food. All in all they offer very efficient service.

Fantastic bed, great pillows, quiet location in midst of busy city (slept through a cyclone). Pleasant staff who go out of their way to assist new travellers.
Obviously used an interior design for the bedroom decor, which was interesting and modern but a touch too dark for us. Website still says renovations are taking place but they were finished 2 years ago.

Good location in walking distance to old town
Rooms with windows on hall (majority of hotel rooms) were affected with noise caused by some construction works.

Due to changes in my trip to Halong Bay (weather) the Hotel de L'Opera moved my booking forward 2 days to accomodate this even though were under no obligation to do so. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Gym was basic but enough for a short stay. Very original interior design, with the hotel promoting local artists where work was on display in the lobby and bar area - great touch! Nice vibe in the bar and my room was fantastic (suite). Good area in Hanoi away from the madness of the Old Quarter but still within walking distance of it and Hoan Kiem Lake area.
Pool was a bit small and you could hear some noise from the street. Take ear plugs for any hotel in central Hanoi! People sometimes smoking in the lobby and bar, however this seems to be normal in Vietnam and not specific to the hotel.
